History
The Netherlands Fine Cut Tobacco Industry Association started life as the Bureau for the Tobacco Industry (Bureau voor de Tabaksindustrie). The bureau was involved in allocating the raw tobacco. In 1952 the association emerged from the bureau, originally with about 300 members. The industry has developed fast since 1952. Moreover members' businesses grew enormously in scale until through mergers and acquisitions four members of the association remained.
Aim
The association aims at representing the interests of the fine cut tobacco industry in the Netherlands in the field of advertising, duties and product regulation. The association acts as the partner in talks with the government, politicians, the media and other relevant agencies.
